A champion bodybuilder died in a terrible car accident in Brazil while riding a motorcycle.
On the BR-369 road between Ibiporã and Jataizinho, Andre Cavalcanti, 34, collided head-on with a 17-year-old riding a bike without a license.
Chief of police in the area, Vitor Dutra, said the accident occurred when the teenager was passing and crashed into Cavalcanti’s motorcycle head-on.
It is believed that Cavalcanti died at the scene.
The teen’s parents were unaware that their son had taken their car to go on a joyride with two other teenagers, aged 15 and 17.
After the terrible crash, the teens were taken to the hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries.
There is a possibility that the 17-year-old could be charged as an adult with a crime similar to murder.
People from all over the world began to pay tribute to the bodybuilder champion.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you that our PRO SUPPORT athlete, Andre Cavalcanti, died this morning in a motorcycle accident,” the International Federation of Bodybuilders for the state of Parana posted on social media.
“He was so young and had so many plans for his life. We pray that God will comfort his family as they hear about this terrible event.”
People will always remember André as the honest and devoted person he was. He was a great athlete, friend, and partner.
“We’ve lost a lot here on Earth, but Heaven has something nice for us,” the message reads. “Let us pray to Our Father for him, sure that God will forgive him and that eternity will last forever.”
Before this, a Portuguese bodybuilder named Marco Luis died in Germany at the age of 46. Known as “Monster,” he had a large social media following and worked as an online coach and motivator.
At the same time, an inquest revealed that another bodybuilding champion had died from a deadly mix of drugs, including steroids. In September of last year, Neil Currey, 34, was found unresponsive in his Sheffield apartment. The inquest determined that he died from a combination of cocaine and methamphetamine, compounded by long-term steroid use. His parents believe the drugs contributed to his death. Currey had worked as a personal trainer before achieving his dream of competing in Mr. Olympia at the 2022 Olympia Fitness & Performance Weekend, despite struggling with his height-to-weight ratio.
Powerlifting champion and Brazilian influencer Rhayara Morais was found dead in her bed at her Aguas Claras apartment on March 27. Rhayara had 500,000 fans on TikTok and nearly 150,000 followers on Instagram. She won a regional powerlifting title about two years after starting the sport.
In a tragic turn, Eustacio Batista Dias, a 27-year-old Brazilian, was shot and killed while talking to another man between workouts.
